The Spiritual Rewards of Gifting in Ramadan: A Month of Blessings and Generosity

Ramadan is the month in which every act of worship is multiplied, every charity is magnified, and every sincere gesture of love becomes an act of drawing nearer to Allah. It is the month in which the Prophet ﷺ was described as being more generous than the blowing wind — and for those who wish to follow his example, gifting during Ramadan is one of the most beautiful ways to do so.

The connection between Ramadan and generosity runs deep in our tradition. Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was at his most generous during Ramadan when Jibreel (AS) would meet with him each night to revise the Quran. (Sahih al-Bukhari, 3554)

This spirit of giving is not limited to Zakat and Sadaqah. Scholars across the major schools of Islamic jurisprudence have noted that voluntary acts of generosity — including gifting — carry elevated reward during this sacred month, because every good deed is multiplied. The one who gives a gift during Ramadan earns the reward of the gift itself, the reward of following the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ in generosity, and the additional blessing of performing it in the most spiritually charged month of the year.
